Halloween at Shibuya Crossing
Halloween at Shibuya Crossing
Japan is getting bigger and more exciting every year. In 2015 Halloween was on a Saturday, people started dressing up and going out Friday night. Halloween in Japan was an multi day long event. Many of the roads became pedestrian only walkways. People were dressed up, walking around the streets, and taking pictures. Cosplay and costumes are not just for otakus anymore. Many people do group costumes from popular anime series.
There were many police officers at the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing. They were guiding the thousands of people across the street before the traffic lights turned. On Monday, Halloween Day, there were so many people and it was hard to walk fast. Walking through the center of Shibuya took twice as long as usual.

Sumo in Fukuoka
Sumo in Fukuoka
Sumo is a Japanese style of wrestling and Japan's national sport. It originated in ancient times as a performance to entertain the Shinto deities. All the pictures were shot on one day at the Fukuoka Kokusai Center during the november tournament. Six tournaments are held every year: three in Tokyo (January, May and September) and one each in Osaka (March), Nagoya (July) and Fukuoka (November). Each tournament lasts for 15 days during which each wrestler performs in one match per day except lower ranked wrestlers who perform in fewer matches.
All sumo wrestlers are classified in a ranking hierarchy (banzuke), which gets updated after each tournament based on the wrestlers' performance. Wrestlers with positive records (more wins than losses) move up the hierarchy, while those with negative records get demoted. The top division is called "Makuuchi" and the second division is called "Juryo". At the pinnacle of the sumo hierarchy stands the yokozuna (grand champion). Unlike wrestlers in lower ranks, a yokozuna cannot be demoted, but he will be expected to retire when his performance begins to worsen.

MyFest in Berlin
30 Years of May Day in Kreuzberg
May Day in Kreuzberg refers to the street fairs and demonstrations organized by leftist and extreme-left groups in Berlin's borough Kreuzberg on the 1st of May. Specifically, this term may refer to the 1st of May 1987, when particularly severe unrest hit Kreuzberg and the Berlin police had to retreat entirely from district SO 36 (a part of Kreuzberg) for several hours. Since then, Autonome (socialists) and Anti-Fascist groups have been organizing one or more so-called "Revolutionary 1st of May Demonstrations" almost every year. There can be riots in the night before or after the 1st of May.

Halloween at Roppongi
Thursday Morning at Roppongi Hills
The Tokyo suburb of Roppongi is the hottest nightlife area in the city. Similar as in "Berlin Mitte" or Londons Soho district, the Japanese use the street as a catwalk to present themselves in their latest dresses and creations. All of the pictures where taken on one morning just before Halloween on the main road to the subway station.
